The Map Still Says Sea (地图上还写着海) — Satellite Briefing (Lemo-Opuscar) · LemoLab × Claude Opus 5.5

No AI-generated images, no stock footage, no Google/Bing/Esri/Mapbox basemaps. Every pixel of ground is a
public-domain satellite image; every line is drawn in code. Exact download URLs (one per request, with the
access date) are logged in assets/raw/manifest.jsonl; the Landsat scene IDs behind every plate and pixel are
in assets/plates/plates.json and assets/raw/landsat/<plate>.npz (key "src").

IMAGERY (burned-in credit, bottom right, whole film: "影像 Landsat · USGS/NASA Blue Marble · NASA")
- Landsat 2 MSS (1977), Landsat 4/5 TM (1989, 2001, 2009), Landsat 7 ETM+ (2000), Landsat 8/9 OLI (2014, 2025):
  U.S. Geological Survey / NASA, Collection 2 Level-1 (MSS) and Level-2 surface reflectance (TM/ETM+/OLI).
Public domain ("federally created data and therefore reside in the public domain", USGS data citation page).
Credit: "Landsat imagery courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey."
Accessed 2026-10-15 through the Microsoft Planetary Computer STAC + data API
  (https://planetarycomputer.microsoft.com, collections landsat-c2-l1 and landsat-c2-l2), which reprojects
each scene to a lon/lat box; the scenes were composited, colour-normalised and graded by tools/ in this folder.
- NASA Blue Marble: Next Generation (globe and Central Asia), via NASA GIBS WMS
(https://gibs.earthdata.nasa.gov, layer BlueMarble_NextGeneration). NASA imagery, free to reuse with credit.
"We acknowledge the use of imagery provided by services from NASA's Global Imagery Browse Services (GIBS),
part of NASA's Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS)."
- Modifications: reprojection, mosaicking, per-scene gain matching, MSS scan-line dropout repair, grading to
grey, water masks and shorelines derived from the imagery. The credits above still apply.

VECTORS
- Natural Earth, ne_10m_lakes_historic ("Aral Sea", historic extent) and ne_10m_rivers_lake_centerlines (Amu Darya,
Syr Darya) — the printed-map layer (paper, waterlines and graticule are drawn in the shader). Public domain.

FACTS
- See FACTS.md: NASA Earth Observatory, USGS EROS Earthshots, NASA MODIS gallery, World Bank (Feature Story 2008;
Implementation Completion Report ICR0000874, 2011). Measured values are labelled as measured on screen.

MUSIC & SOUND
- Original score and sound design, written for this film in mix.py: synthesis in numpy (pulse bass, FM telemetry
plucks and pings, filtered-noise beds and sweeps, synthesized wind, water, ship horn, ratchet) plus sampled
instruments played through the library's core/audio/sampler.py:
timpani, concert bass drum, gran cassa, tam-tam (reversed), gong, suspended cymbal (bowed, stick, crescendo,
reversed hit), clash cymbals, closed hi-hat, vibraphone, bowed vibraphone, glass harp, French horn (sustain and
staccato), trombone (sustain and staccato), tuba (sustain and staccato).
- Samples (CC0): FreePats project (freepats.zenvoid.org), VS Chamber Orchestra: Community Edition (Versilian
