Install

Install Koder desktop, Koder CLI and TUI, or the KARMENBOT terminal app on a supported system.

Koder desktop

Get the installer from the download page. Mac 0.4.56 is a DMG for Apple silicon on macOS 13 or later. Windows 0.4.56 is an EXE for 64-bit Windows 10 and 11; native testing is still in progress. The installers have no code signature, and the Mac package is not notarized. The download page has SHA-256 checks and first-open instructions.

Koder CLI

The current installer version is 0.4.1, checked 2026-10-22. Use Windows 10/11, macOS, Linux or WSL. The installer reuses Node.js 22.21+ or 24+, or downloads and verifies a runtime. Normal installation needs no administrator access.

Automatic updates

Interactive chats check for official updates at most once every six hours. Installation waits until active tasks, queued input and unfinished drafts are clear, then verifies the replacement. A changed license needs manual review.

KODER_AUTO_UPDATE=0 disables checks for that process. Scripts, one-shot commands and unmanaged copies do not auto-install.

Koder TUI

Version 0.1.0 runs as koder-tui. Use the TUI installation commands on the CLI and TUI page.

KARMENBOT terminal app

Use macOS 12 or later on Intel or Apple silicon, Windows 10/11 with Windows Terminal, PowerShell or CMD, or Linux with glibc 2.28+ such as Ubuntu 20.04+. macOS and Linux installation needs no administrator password. Node.js 22 does not support Windows 7, 8 or XP.

The README also has Windows CMD instructions. The terminal app and phone app are separate products. The phone app is not available for download.
