Quickstart
Install Koder CLI, choose a model provider and run your first task in a project folder. Setup takes a few minutes, depending on your connection.
Before you start
- Use Windows 10 or 11, macOS, Linux or WSL.
- Have a model provider’s API key ready. The provider may charge for requests.
- Read the license and consent guide. Personal, noncommercial local CLI use is free and needs no membership. Commercial use and organizational deployment require separate written authorization.
1. Install Koder CLI
Run this in a macOS, Linux or WSL terminal:
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/KarmenLoop/koder-cli/main/install/koder-cli.sh | bashOn Windows, use the full PowerShell command on the Koder CLI page. Type accept at the license prompt. Type decline or press Ctrl+C to cancel. Without an interactive answer or prior acceptance, the installer exits. That is not a network error.
2. Configure a model
Run koder. The first run opens settings with no model selected. Choose a provider and enter your API key. See Provider setup for supported providers and instructions.
3. Run a task
Open your project folder and run:
koder ask "Explain the main entry point in this project."koder ask is read-only. To change files, use koder run. Smart approval handles ordinary edits and low-risk commands; sensitive actions still need your approval.
